Artpoint art trail in Hobsonville
The past weekend I took part in the Artpoint art trail. I wanted to share my Yellow Lab dog photography and show off the beautiful area that I live in. It was a way to explore more of Hobsonville, get out of my comfort zone of taking our usual boardwalk route and discover new photogenic spots other than the usual 2/3 trusted ones.
My portraits of Dogs in Hobby were on display in the gourmet candy shop FON candy floss shop, 74 Hobsonville Point Road, Hobsonville Point. If you’re in the area I highly recommend you visit Greg and Roxanne’s candy store.
We’ve had incredible feedback on the amount of people who attended. Now, you can enjoy the new portraits too, below on this blog.
Fingers crossed this event takes place again next year! I met so many artists I didn’t know and made new friends too. I hope to be able to see the entire art trail next time.
See Artpoint for the art trail map of open studios, exhibitions & workshops of other local artists that took part on the day. It’s incredible how many creatives live in the area.
See how Dogs of Hobby came about in the below reels:

Couple of behind the scenes of how I photographed the dogs of Hobby Point.
Dogs of Hobsonville Point exhibit:
All portraits were specifically made just for the Artpoint art trail. I wanted to showcase the unique beauty we are surrounded by in Hobsonville Point AND to show the cute dogs that bring smiles to the coastal walkway.
Coco the airedale is a frequent sight around Hobby with his fashionable mum. Her photo was made at Rifle Range Amphitheatre in Hobsonville Point.
Enzo the miniature schnauzer (Enzo’s Instagram) isn’t technically local as he lives right out of the borders of Hobby but spends a lot of time walking here. His photo was made against the wooden slats at Sunderland Park.
Pancha (Jack Russell) and Mila (Chihuahua Staffy cross) like to stroll along the boardwalk in Hobsonville. But Pancha has her mom and dad wrapped around her little toe to carry her senior little body.
Sudo is your classic golden retrevier. He arrived to his shoot carrying a rainbow teddy in his mouth. His photo was made at the classic Hobsonville Point spot, the laneway between the coconut park and Catalina Cafe.
